A Day of Crafting
As part of my organization project, I decided to get ahead of the game a bit and make birthday cards in advance. I enjoyed this craft and it helped me slowed down a bit on my day.
I counted how many cards I will need throughout the year (about 60, with some room). I need about five in January alone. I decided to make about 30 cards by the end of January and make the rest throughout the year.
My goal is to have the cards ready to be mailed and/or given, and alleviate some of the stress of trying to find a card at the last minute. I want to make sure I let my friends and family know we are thinking of them during their day. I just love snail mail and I feel it makes it a bit more personal that way.
Here is how I have done the cards so far:
I bought at Michael’s a package of their 5x7 blank white cards and a package of the 3x4 brown cards. They come with the envelopes as well.
To decorate them I am using: stamps (It was so much fun to bring them out again), Cricut, scrapbook paper with birthday themes (Sadly, I had the paper in my scrapbooking supplies for a while and just had not used it), markers, washi tape and stickers.
It was so much fun to sit down and play around with the stamps and the paper and get my imagination going on how to decorate the cards. I have made about 15 so far. Since I have not done cards in a while, it took a moment to get in the groove of it, but once I started it felt so nice!
